Welcome back Cordillera Vail Club Members! Officially the Club is entering its third full season. Through tremendous support from the membership, the Club has become a great success. Our first full season, 2007/2008, brought excitement, enthusiasm and a very high standard of customer service. It is our daily goal to provide and maintain this level of service, enthusiasm and professionalism throughout the life of the Cordillera Vail Club.

STAFF:
Joe Helminski will be back with us for the2009/2010 season. Joe has been promoted to the Cordillera Vail Club Supervisor position and will be overseeing the day to day operations of the Club. Scott Scholz will also be returning from his one year hiatus. Scott will be the Vail Club Assistant Supervisor for the 2009/2010 season. Please be sure to congratulate and welcome back both Joe and Scott when you see them.

MEMBER GUEST DAY POLICY CHANGES:
Member use increased 19.8% and Guest use 32.7% over the 2008/2009 season compared to the 2007/2008 season. Due to these increases, changes have been made to the guest policy in order to provide the membership with the experience they have become accustomed to. Member guest days, along with guest day fees, have been reduced. Members are now afforded 15 guest days per season (20 in original plan) beginning November 2009. Guest day fees have been reduced to $30 ($50 in original plan) per day. The guest day fee is implemented when the allotted 15 days have been used. Members may begin sending guest locker requests 1 October of each season. Please send guest locker requests to vailclub@cordillerametro.org and cc: bsigler@cordillerametro.org.

*Note: All guests entering the facility must have a guest day locker reserved. If a locker has not been reserved and a member wishes to bring a guest into the facility, a guest day will be charged against said members original 15 days whether the guest uses a locker or not. Please call 970/479-1229 or email vailclub@cordillerametro.org with inquiries regarding guests and guest locker use.

SURVEY:
Thank you to all members who contributed feedback through the annual Vail Club survey. The survey provided valuable information on challenges the Club has experienced, as well as how we can improve on the operations, services and programs the membership truly enjoys. Overall, the Club received an aggregate 4.6 out of a possible 5 on the survey.

Areas the membership identified as room for improvement; continental breakfast and après ski services as well as communication on events and programs.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICES:
Continental breakfast and Après ski will see more healthy alternatives.

PROGRAMS:
Responses regarding programs indentified the Pentti Ski Day, Ski With a Fellow Member and Snow Cat Skiing on Vail Pass as programs the membership would most like to participate in.

Pentti Ski Day:
The ski days with Pentti Tofferi have been increased to every Wednesday of every month (originally offered only once per month) starting Wednesday, 6 January 2010 and ending Wednesday, 31 March 2010. Pentti has graciously offered his time to accommodate the membership’s desire for this program. The Pentti ski days will begin at 9 am on each Wednesday. Sign up is required for these events (subject to change depending on participation level and weather). This is not a teaching program but rather a ski day with information provided on technique and terrain. Intermediate and advanced level skiers will be placed in groups similar to their ability. When signing up, please note your ability level so we may incorporate all participants into the correct group. Brock Sloan, The Club at Cordillera’s Director of Golf, John Kuzina, Head Golf Professional at the Mountain Course at Cordillera, as well as Bart Sigler, Director of Business Enterprises, will be joining Pentti on most, if not all ski days.

Ski With a Fellow Member:
Ski with a fellow member dates to be determined. Program will begin in January 2010.

Vail Pass Snow Cat Skiing:
Dates to be determined and are subject to change depending on participation level and weather.

Full Moon Snow Shoe:
The Club will again be offering the Full Moon Snowshoe events; however, the program will no longer be affiliated with the Game Creek Club. The event will take place in the same manner as in past seasons except for the dinners. Participants will be asked when registering for the event if they would like to have dinner following the snow shoe. If the consensus is that all participants or some want to have dinner, a dinner location will be agreed upon and reservations made in advance of the day of the event. Sign up is required and can be done either in person, at the club, or via email or telephone. The events will begin at 6 pm on the following dates; 30 January, 28 February and 29 March. Please contact a Vail Club staff member for more information on the full moon snow shoe events. Events are subject to change depending on participation level and weather.
